Autophagy and cancer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Autophagy helps cells survive. Paradoxically, this implies that it can both prevent the appearance of tumours (protecting healthy cells) and contribute to their progression (supporting cancer cells).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, it is necessary to determine in which contexts it is interesting to promote or block the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is one of the objectives of AU\u00b7SIS, identifying new autophagic markers in cancer<\/strong> so we can improve diagnosis and treatment in oncology.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Autosis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\n

Autosis is a type of cell death highly dependent on autophagy and the Na+\/K+-ATPase pump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Described in 2013, it has been found in pathologies such as ischemia or anorexia nervosa. However, we still do not know its molecular mechanisms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, one of the main objectives of AU\u00b7SIS is the molecular characterization of autosis<\/strong>, so we can better understand its causes and regulation, and apply this new knowledge in the clinic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
